What is traditional Judaism’s opinion, custom, law, etc. with regard to treatment of fish?

There are articles coming out about how fish feel pain and farmed fish, as well as fish caught from the ocean via nets or lines, go through pain and disease as a result. Kosher laws, with regard to animals, require that they be slaughtered humanely in accordance with the laws of schechting animals, yet I am not aware of any laws regarding catching and killing fish for consumption.

All I know is that you are only supposed to eat the ones with fins and scales, or in other words not shellfish. While this may not exactly answer your question, it may when you consider the psychology of fish becase with land animals the animals considered unclean for consumption are often the more intelligent ones like pigs that can know what is coming.

Nope. You can kill a kosher fish any way you like and it will still be kosher. It is considered wrong to waste food, though, or to kill for the love of killing, so dynamite would probably not be allowed ;)
