Homosexuality and the Bible, Does Judaism enforce this law today?

13 ‘If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Not really… the Jews are not that crazy…
God the Father didn’t have the foggiest idea of what was going on in Sodom and Gomorrah, except for some unspecified complaints. So he had to come down from Heaven to take a look. Whatever he found out made him destroy them in spite of all the earlier fondness of God for Sodom!!! BTW, Lot’s sin was far more heinous than any sin practiced in Sodom! He got drunk and had sex with his young virgin daughters until he got them pregnant. God must have pleasured himself watching him do it because he declared Lot a RIGHTEOUS MAN throughout the Bible, Old and New Testaments.
Genesis 18:20-21 (NIV) Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”*
*God is not that omniscient or omnipresent as some Christians claim. He needs to personally come down to find out what is going about the outcry that he heard about Sodom! The destruction of Sodom may have been a glitch like so many other glitches in God’s creation since Gen. 1:1.
Obviously, the Bible God is getting too old. Sooner or later he is going to kick the bucket and move on to another afterlife BECAUSE he already made God the Son Jesus Christ heir of his creation. Jesus never ever mentions homosexuality as a sin. He talks very fondly about Sodom and Gomorrah. In fact, he said that in the Day of Judgment the Sodomites will fare much better than the Jews! Dig this… Jesus is going to judge everybody and he is ALREADY telling us the outcome of the proceedings in his Holy Court! No other judge in the world is so candid!
Matthew 11:24 (NIV) But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the Day of Judgment than for you.”*
(*) Jesus is demonstrating to have much more love and favoritism for the gays and Lesbians than for his own people the Jews! He also stated that even the PROSTITUTES* (*not ex-prostitutes, but prostitutes!) will enter his Kingdom ahead of the Jews!!! So if you have a choice of favoring a gay person or a Jew, which one would you choose??? WWJD?
God the Son Jesus Christ* (*the future Judge of the World) doesn’t see anything wicked in Sodom, except the normal everyday life routine… Bear in mind that Jesus is the sole heir of the Universe… The old man God will kick the bucket someday and Jesus will take over…
Luke 17:28-29 (NIV) “It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.* (*God the Son Jesus Christ doesn’t mention homosexuality as the sin of Sodom, but carefree living!!! Nobody beats Jesus at judging anybody!)
There are unfulfilled prophecies in the Old Testament about the full restoration of Sodom and Gomorrah to the state that they were just before their destruction!!!
Ezekiel 16:53, 55 (NIV) “However, I* (*God) will restore the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters and of Samaria and her daughters, and your fortunes along with them… [55] And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to what they were before; and you and your daughters will return to what you were before.
God the Son Jesus Christ said that the PROSTITUTES* (*not ex-prostitutes, but prostitutes!) will enter his Kingdom ahead of the Jews!!! (The Jews don’t mind as long as they are there when they get there!) So if you have a choice to favor a prostitute or a Jew, which one would you choose??? Hint: WWJD?
What if we had male prostitutes like the ones who were servicing the LORD’S people in Solomon’s Temple? King Solomon built shrines for male and female prostitutes right inside of the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem and all around Israel! They were fully functional for over 300 years until a new king Josiah removed them!!! King Solomon holds God’s certification of being the wisest man ever to set foot on this Earth!!!
2 kings 23:7 (NIV) He* (*King Josiah) also tore down the quarters of the male shrine prostitutes* (*male shrine prostitutes were homosexuals making a decent living servicing God’s people in a way that the clergy doesn’t approve today!), which were in the temple of the LORD…
Bear in mind that for over 700 years NOBODY ever saw or read the Tablets of the Law of God that Moses wrote and hid in the Ark of the Covenant “as a witness against Israel!” Anybody peeking inside the Ark of the Covenant was zapped on the spot! There is nothing in the tablets of the Law against homosexuality! There is no proof that the tablets were ever seen again, either… if they ever existed at all!
The ONLY place of worship authorized by the Bible God Almighty was in his Temple in Jerusalem that was built by King Solomon. Can you picture in your mind the most conservative clergypersons, preachers and their families and children going to worship God in the Temple of the LORD while at the same time male prostitutes are servicing the rest of the male congregation…!? But that is the way it was back then!!!… Like the old time spiritual goes…

in israel some jews planned to bomb a gay parade but they were arrested on time.
No because it’s against the law. Or I hope they would not! I hope they would wait and let Jehovah God take care of it.
I think if it wasn’t for the law some of them would kill homosexuals. Well look at one of the answers who says such.
By rights though they shouldn’t let that stop them. They want to please their God, and it’s what he commands them to do. Why are they worried about the law, being in prison or even executed for murder when they should be putting their God first? According to their beliefs they will go to heaven anyway. I would challenge any to go and follow what their God tells them and go and kill homosexuals irrespective of the law. If not they obviously don’t put their God first, which they should be doing.

IN LEVICITUS MOST WILL BE PUT TO DEATH AND THEIR BLOOD WILL BE UPON THEM. IN ALL MANY ( ADULTERY INCEST AND MANY MORE ) IN LEV. 20 and LEV .18
YET LEVITICUS 18, 12, THE ACT IS CALLED ABDOMINATION WITH NO ( DEATH OR BLOOD ON THEIR HEADS.

The only harm homosexuality exacts is upon rampant feminists endeavouring to overpower mankind and finding him indifferent. Pure and Simple Truth. Modern society is no longer founded upon patriarchal or moral values as all seek to gain an undefined liberation with no predefined end goal.
Man is now able to love whom he chooses, as is woman, as the slow erosion of family values, adultery and the sanctity of matrimony have been near nullified if not mostly deconstructed.
No. I’m willing to bet that law was rarely enforced even in biblical times.
Quite apart from the fact that one needs to look at far more than one verse to understand Jewish law on this matter, every Jew in the world today is committed to obeying the laws of the land in which they live. Judaism only enforces laws concerning specifically Jewish matters – a consensual matter since one is only bound by such rulings if one chooses to be so bound, and these specifically Jewish matters (eg concerning conversion, marriage etc as matters of Jewish status) don’t have any relation to penalties under criminal or civil law.
Jews aren’t nearly as hung up about issues of sexuality as Christians seem to be, so although most Orthodox Jews would consider homosexuality as wrong, it’s not a massive deal. Reform Judaism is completely accepting of homosexuality (for men and women).
A finding of guilt can be made only upon the testimony of AT LEAST TWO witnesses. The punishment for testifying falsely is the same as the punishment for the underlying offense because, according to God, perverting the truth is equally violent. The pursuit of justice is the beginning of justice. In other words, the process by which justice is pursued is tantamount to justice itself.
If you are interested in Jewish Law, find a Jew who will study Talmud with you. Not only are two witnesses required, they must have warned the parties prior to the incident that it was a sin, and then must have witnessed the incident!
The random stonings found in other cultures was not the case in Israel either then or now! Jewish law makes it clear that justice, especially for the worst crimes, must be careful, exacting, and scrupulously ethical.

The idea that Judaism EVER authorized killing someone for homosexuality or most anything (except murder) is a false Christian taught myth to vilify & attack Judaism & then Jews. An eye for eye also meant only that one should be compensated for harm according to the injury, not the status of either party. That was a novel idea in those days!!! Only Christianity then interpreted it to mean putting out someones eye. Often punishements are stated in Torah that are only for dramatic purposes to say “this is bad”, but other passages contradict or clarify them to show they are NOT to be taken literally. (Just because Christianity reads everything in singular passages, Judaism doesn’t…)
On homosexuality, reform, conservative, & reconstructionist, do not have a problem with it. Orthodox feels it’s against the commandments. However, they don’t kill someone for it. Duh.
There are some nuts ULTRA orthodox groups that run protests when the gay pride insists on marching right near their neighborhoods in Jerusalem & some violence has broken out in the past. A two part solution has worked. The parade is rerouted to be less in their face, & the orthodox rabbis urge their congregants to be peaceful. (There will always be nuts in any group of people.)
Note: Homosexuality is legal in Israel, protected by the law, & the gay parade happens there every year. (And the parade includes scantily dressed people in all sorts of configurations, use your imagination, so it’s a lot more than “gayness” that’s in the face of the ultra orthodox but also all the violation of their sense of modest dress & behavior.)
How that phrase gained importance in the Torah… overwhelming the cultures all around them preferred rear entry sex for both homo & hetrosexual arrangements. Many also used orgies to reach their Gods. By Torah bringing sex back into the realm of marriage, it completely changed it’s nature as removing it as part of God worship. Part of this was the change in position preference to frontal emphasied in those passages. (Thomas Cahill’s book on sumerian & other cultures of the day). I’ve even read that there was a specific sacrifice act where a man dressed as a woman & laid with a man, so this passage may have even more immediate meaning.

I’m really disappointed that all these non-Jewish people answered on behalf of Judaism with information they didn’t know. Do they do that to other religions too?
What people outside of Judaism usually fail to understand is that we have a very well-established and long-standing (>2000 years) tradition of updating our practical legislation. Out of respect, we don’t change the wording, because that would be to say that it was wrong. Instead, the rabbis would debate under what conditions the law was intended to be enforced. Sometimes those conditions would become so stringent that the legislation was never applicable in actual practice. The strictures around the death penalty are an excellent example of that.
Judaism has room for disagreement, our rabbinical texts record many cases of differing views and interpretations amongst the rabbis. Likewise today there are differing opinions on homosexual relations. In the U.S., the Reform and Reconstructionist movements fully accept homosexuality as part of the spectrum of healthy human behaviour (in this case the prohibition is seen as psychologically damaging and therefore we are required to understand the prohibition as no longer applicable). The Conservative movement allows for plurality amongst its congregations, each are allowed to decide for themselves. The Orthodox movement prohibits same sex relations amongst its membership, but it does not seek to enforce the death penalty.
